More Places to Visit
Alcove Cave
Tucked away behind Big Lake Trading Post, this hidden Alcove Cave offers a unique glimpse into the natural beauty and geological formations of the area. Carved over time by wind and water, the cave provides a cool, shaded retreat with stunning rock textures and a peaceful atmosphere.
Lake Powell Overlook
Enjoy an unobstructed, sweeping, elevated view of Lake Powell, Glen Canyon, and distant sandstone formations. Perched high above the shimmering blue waters of Lake Powell, this scenic overlook offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the lake’s vast expanse, surrounded by dramatic red rock canyons and towering mesas. Located just a short drive from Page, Arizona, the overlook provides a stunning vantage point where visitors can admire the contrast of deep blue water and the rugged desert landscape.
Glen Canyon Dam
Standing as a monumental feat of engineering, Glen Canyon Dam rises 710 feet above the Colorado River, holding back the waters of Lake Powell and providing hydroelectric power to the region. Completed in 1963, the dam plays a crucial role in water management for the southwestern United States, creating one of the largest reservoirs in the country.
Adjacent to the dam, the Glen Canyon Bridge is an impressive steel arch bridge that spans 1,271 feet across the canyon, offering stunning views of the Colorado River far below. The bridge, completed in 1959, was once the highest arch bridge in the world and remains a breathtaking sight.
